📢 Boil Water Advisory 📢

*Update 3/11 at 2:00pm: Satisfactory results were received from water samples. The precautionary boil water advisory is therefore rescinded.

*Update 3/9 at 2:00 pm: Water service has been restored, but the boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice.

The morning of March 9th, City crews responded to a water main break in the Waterstone community. This has resulted in a boil water advisory for residents on Waterscape Drive (7801 through 7823). Repairs are underway, and crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service.
Residents in affected areas should boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice. We understand the inconvenience this causes and appreciate the community’s patience as we work to resolve the issue. Updates will be shared here as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact the City of Mascotte Public Works at 352-557-8833.

Sidewalk Maintenance Program
The City of Mascotte initiated an annual sidewalk asset maintenance program in August 2022 to maintain safe, ADA-compliant sidewalks for residents and visitors. The contractor has been instructed to remove all repairable changes in level measuring ¼” to 2” in height using a 1:12 slope to meet ADA requirements. The program allows the City to minimize liability and improve the safety and aesthetics of its sidewalks, while saving the taxpayer residents money when compared to alternative methods. Since inception, the City’s contractor has been able to remove 1,108 hazards on 17.49 miles of sidewalk in seven neighborhoods and additional City streets, while saving the City almost $125,000 when compared to other methods of maintenance.

This method allows the City to keep the sidewalks in service and minimize inconvenience to pedestrians. No heavy equipment or traffic control is required for the process and all areas are left debris and hazard free.

Each year City Council provides staff with funds to maintain sidewalks in the City and it is our desire to provide the citizens with the best product at the best cost.

On April 15, 2025, the City Council voted unanimously to officially designate our Department of Public Works employees as First Responders.

This well-deserved recognition highlights the critical role Public Works plays in keeping our city safe, especially before and after natural disasters. From clearing roads and restoring infrastructure to managing emergency response logistics, they’re always on the frontlines—often behind the scenes—making sure our community stays strong and resilient.
Please join us in thanking these everyday heroes for their dedication, grit, and tireless service.
