Post Hurricane Milton Update - 10/10/2024 2:00 P.M.
Again, the Mascotte PD has been out since 3:00 AM working to remove trees off the roadways. They have also been doing assessments of the local area.
Along with the PD, public works and the Lake County Fire Department are also out assessing the damage and working to coordinate cleanup.
Staff just got off the phone with public works and the roads have been cleared of trees and debris for traffic to get through. There are still some areas with water but we have been informed they are able to be traveled upon. Over the coming week there will be much more debris cleanup that will be taking place.
Half of the city's power has been restored and the utility company is working on getting the other half of the city restored. Based on the information provided by Duke Energy we are hoping to restore power to the remainder of the city shortly.
The Lake County EOC noted that areas of Lake County received 7" to 13" of rainfall depending on location.
Post operations continue to be monitored.
Again, as the day goes on conditions will continue to improve however, the St. Johns River and anyone along the St. Johns River will continue to experience flooding/potential flooding throughout the week to come.
