The City will continue to provide sandbags for residents until 5:00 p.m. today while supplies last. Due to limited quantity, sandbags are for residents only. "LIMIT 10 bags per household. The City has given out approximately 1000 sandbags and has roughly 1500 remaining.

Town Closures
The City of Mascotte will be closed Wednesday and Thursday and will reopen on Monday for normal business hours. Due to the storm the utilities department will not be imposing late fees till October 21, 2024, and shutoffs will not occur until 7:00 AM on October 22, 2024.
State of Emergency
Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a State of Emergency for counties including Lake County. This morning the City of Mascotte also signed an Emergency Order for our city.
Sandbags
County sandbag locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is a limit of 10 bags per day per household. Sand and bags will be available on-site - residents should bring their own shovels and will need to fill their own bags. Assistance will be onsite at two locations for those who need help filling and loading their bags.

Shelter Information:
Lake County will open 15 shelters for those who need accommodations during the storm. The shelters will open Tuesday, Oct. 08, at 12 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring necessary supplies such as medication, bedding, and a pet carrier or crate.

Residents who need help getting to a shelter should call the Citizens Information Line to schedule their travel. LakeXpress, Lake County’s fixed-route bus system, will be providing free rides on Wednesday to travelers who state they need to be taken to a shelter. Free rides will continue to be given until conditions become unsafe. Riders must tell the driver they are going to a shelter to use the free ride.
Schools
Lake County schools and district offices will be closed Tuesday, October 8, 2024, through Thursday, October 10, 2024.
County Operations
Lake County Offices will be closed Wednesday, October 9, 2024, through Thursday, October 10, 2024. Office reopening will be assessed based on conditions.
Trash Collection
Tuesday trash collection will take place as normal. There will be no trash collection on Wednesday October 9, 2024. The city's trash hauler is monitoring the storm and will provide the city with an update sometime tomorrow with regards to Thursday, and Friday's collection.
Citizen Information Line
The County's Citizens Information Line (CIL) is now open for 24-hour operations. There number is 352-253-9999. 9-1-1 should only be used to request emergency aid.

Other Information
There is a potential for 6" -12" of rainfall throughout Lake County.
Strong, sustained tropical storm-force winds and hurricane wind gusts are forecast to begin in the early evening hours of Wednesday, October 9, 2024. There is a 10% chance that the northwest corner of Lake County could experience wind gust up to 110 mph. Emergency staff is recommending that those in mobile homes or trailers that don’t have somewhere else to go seek cover in one the 15 shelters being setup in Lake County. If local calls for service are needed, please be patient with local responders. Based on sustained wind gust and storm conditions they will do their best to get to residents as quickly as possible.
Lake County was placed under a Hurricane Watch at 1100 hours on Monday, October 7, 2024.
