It appears they may be some confusion on yard debris pickup. To clarify the process, the city has a hauler out and about picking up yard vegetation/debris (tree limbs, logs, palms, leaves, etc.) At this time residents do not need to bundle their yard debris as they normally do. As part of the cleanup effort, residents may put their yard debris out at the corner or edge of their property and our hauler will pick it up whether it is bundled or not.
The only thing we are asking of residents is that the yard debris/vegetation is separate from other household items you need hauled away.
Again, the debris hauler started Monday with the pickup of yard debris/vegetation and depending on the time it takes to get through the city, this process could go into next week before we start the second round of yard debris pickup. There is a lot of debris out there and it is going to take crews a significant amount of time to get it all removed.
Once they have gone through the city at least once, we will send them out a second time to get anything that was potentially missed the first time. Again, this could take several weeks due to the amount of debris that is currently out there.
GFL will pickup trash and bulk items as normal. Residents need to put any household debris including fencing in a separate pile by the road (this debris should not be comingled with yard debris). Once the yard debris is picked up and we can assess what GFL was able to get with their normal pickup we will notify residents of an agreed upon date to get all other household items from the storm picked up that could not be picked up as part of normal trash collection.
Again, thank you for your patience as we work to remove the debris from the city.
