Post Hurricane Milton Update - 10/11/2024 2:00 P.M.
Not to much has changed since this mornings update other than a few areas in the city have had power restored. Staff has completed their initial assessments and is working on the cleanup process. Cleanup efforts will take place over the next several weeks. We will start these efforts with a yard debris hauler on Monday. Any resident or business that has trees, limbs, or other yard debris needs to put their debris out by the road and Monday haulers will start to clear the debris out. The hauler will come through the city twice as to give those who were unable to get their yard debris out this weekend a second chance for the city to pickup. We are expecting the second round of pickup will begin the following week. The city will be working with waste haulers early next week to get rid of other types of debris residents may have from the storm and will provide additional information once arrangements have been finalized with the waste hauler.
For those in the city still without power crews are working as fast at they can to get the remaining business and residential properties restored. We have not been provided with a reconnect time but public works continues to reach out to the local utility companies to get the remainder of the city restored. Please be patient with them as they have been working around the clock to not only restore power to our area but several others as well.
The call center will be staffed till 7:00 PM tonight and will reopen in the morning. The Lake County Emergency Management Citizen Information Line is 352-253-9999.

For those with trees, limbs, and other yard debris, the city will will have a yard debris pickup for downed trees and limbs this Monday and then will have them provide a second pickup date seven to ten days later for those who could not get their yard debris out right away.
The next scheduled update from the Lake County EOC will be at approximately 8:00 AM tomorrow morning. Unless there is significant information to provide staff would expect this to be the last update for awhile.
Again, please be safe and for those without power still crews are working to restore that power as quickly as possible.
