Post Hurricane Milton Update - 10/11/2024 8:00 A.M.
Staff has completed their initial assessments and will begin the cleanup process. Cleanup efforts will take place over the next several weeks. We will start these efforts with a yard debris hauler on Monday. Any resident or business that has trees, limbs, or other yard debris needs to put their debris out by the road and Monday haulers will start to clear the debris out. The hauler will come through the city twice as to give those who were unable to get their yard debris out this weekend a second chance for the city to pickup. We are expecting the second round of pickup will begin the following week. The city will be working with waste haulers early next week to get rid of other types of debris residents may have from the storm and will provide additional information once arrangements have been finalized with the waste hauler.
The majority of the city should have already had power restored. If you are without power crews are working as fast as they can to get residents restored as quickly as possible. Please be patient with them. Of the 80% of Lake County utility customers that were without power crews are still working to restore power to 34% of those residents.
If you see county officials out and about, The Lake County Appraisers office will have staff out today and over the next several days to assess damage to buildings in the area.
