Hurricane Milton
In preparation for Hurricane Milton, which is developing over the Gulf of Mexico, the City of Mascotte will be providing sandbags for residents. Bags are self-serve and you must bring your own shovel. Due to limited quantity, sandbags are for residents only. "LIMIT 10 bags per household. The City is scheduled to receive additional sandbags Wednesday morning.

Bags are available Monday and Tuesday (October 7th and 8th 2024) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM while supplies last.

Town Closures
The City of Mascotte is monitoring the storms progress. Staff is preparing to close offices on Thursday and depending on tomorrow mornings update we may be closing down for a partial or full day on Wednesday as well. as Milton is forecast to approach the west coast of Florida late Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
State of Emergency
Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a State of Emergency for counties including Lake County. This morning the City of Mascotte also signed an Emergency Order for our city.
Sandbags
County sandbag locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is a limit of 10 bags per day per household. Sand and bags will be available on-site - residents should bring their own shovels and will need to fill their own bags. Assistance will be onsite at two locations for those who need help filling and loading their bags.

Schools
Lake County schools and district offices will be closed Wednesday, October 9, 2024 through Thursday, October 10, 2024.
County Operations
Lake County Offices will be closed Wednesday, October 9, 2024, through Thursday, October 10, 2024. Office reopening will be assessed based on conditions.
Trash Collection
Tuesday trash collection will take place as normal. GFL the city's trash hauler is monitoring the storm and will provide the city with an update sometime tomorrow with regards to Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday's collection.
Citizen Information Line
The County's Citizens Information Line (CIL) will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 and will begin 24-hour operations on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:00 a.m.
9-1-1 should only be used to request emergency aid.

Other Information
There is a potential for 3" -6" of rainfall throughout Lake County, with local amounts of 6" - 8". There is a 10% chance that a few locations will receive higher rainfall amounts of 10" - 12".
Strong, sustained tropical storm-force winds and hurricane wind gusts are forecast to begin in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The most likely arrival time will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the late afternoon hours. Flood Watch continues today, Monday, October 7, 2024. If local calls for service are needed, please be patient with local responders. Based on sustained wind gust and storm conditions they will do their best to get to residents as quickly as possible.
Lake County was placed under a Hurricane Watch at 1100 hours on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Lake County is preparing to open 15 shelters on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 0600 hours.
