Tropical Storm Helene Update - 9-25-2024 at 200 PM
As of 2:00 PM this afternoon no new updates with regards to the storm.
Tropical Storm warnings have been issued for Lake County. Hurricane Helene is still looking to be a large storm with impacts outside the cone. While you could see wind gust this morning. The heaviest and worse of the storm for Lake County is expected this afternoon through the evening. There is moderate risk of tornados as we go throughout the day. US National Weather Service Melbourne Florida.
Town Closures
City of Mascotte offices are closed today with normal business resuming tomorrow, which means offices will reopen on Monday morning at 7:00 a.m.
State of Emergency
Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a State of Emergency for counties including Lake County. Last night Mayor Sheffield signed the emergency order for the City of Mascotte.
Sandbags
The sandbag location has been closed. Residents still in need, may visit the Lake County Emergency Management page on the county’s website for other locations at www.lakecountyfl.gov/Emergency-Management
Schools
Lake County schools and district offices will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 26.
County Operations
All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 26, All regular business operations are anticipated to resume on Friday, Sept. 27.
Trash Collection
GFL is picking up trash this morning. Cans needed to be out by 6:00 a.m. as they were starting early this morning. If your trash is missed for any reason, we ask that you please put it somewhere secure in the events the winds pickup so that trash is not blowing around the streets.
Citizen Information Line
The County's Citizens Information Line (CIL) is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Citizens who need information are encouraged to call the line at 352-253-9999 for assistance. 9-1-1 should only be used to request emergency aid.
