About the City of Mascotte:

Located in the southwestern portion of Lake County, Mascotte is bordered by Groveland, Leesburg and Sumter County.                         Mascotte's population is 6,600 (USCB), with much growth planned to create future commercial and industrial growth, as well as the supporting residential population.

Established in the late 1800's and incorporated in 1925, the City of Mascotte "Celebrates its Culture and Community," promoting diversity and quality of life.

The City of Mascotte provides a full range of municpal services, including police; administrative and financial services, community and economic development, code enforcement, public services, water, refuse and recycling, and parks and recreation.

City Hall will be closing today, September 27th, at 5pm due to Hurricane Ian and will reopen on Monday, October 3rd.

Lake County will open eight emergency shelters for residents on Tuesday, September 27. The shelters will open to the public at 4 p.m. And all locations are are pet friendly. Special needs shelters are notated with asterisks (*). The locations of the shelters are:

  • Villages Elementary – 695 Rolling Acres Road, Lady Lake*
  • Leesburg Elementary – 2229 South Street, Leesburg*
  • Umatilla Elementary – 401 Lake Street, Umatilla*
  • Lost Lake Elementary – 1901 Johns Lake Road, Clermont*
  • Astatula Elementary – 13925 Florida Avenue, Astatula*

Garbage Collection

GFL collection plans as of now are to run a full day tomorrow and assess, at the end of tomorrow, collections for Wednesday. More than likely they will not be collecting Thursday and possibly Friday. An update will be sent out tomorrow afternoon for additional collection information.

Sandbag locations

Sandbags will be made available at five Lake County locations on September 25 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Residents must bring their own shovels and are limited to 10 bags of sand per household. No tools will be provided at sand deployment sites and residents are responsible for filling their own sandbags. Sandbags will only be offered during designated times before a storm threat. No sandbags will be dispensed during storm conditions.

The City of Clermont will also open a sandbag site tomorrow.

The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Park Ballfields (658 12th Street, Clermont). The site is self service – residents must bring their own shovels and fill their own bags. There is a 10 sandbag limit per household.

Election 2022

Election season is quickly approaching. This year, council seats 2 and 4 are up for election. Qualifications will start on August 15, 2022, at 12PM, and end on August 19, 2022, at 12PM. If you wish to run for a seat all paperwork will need to be turned in during this time. Forms can be found on the City website by clicking here or can be picked up at City Hall. Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground in the City of Mascotte


Habitat Groundbreaking


Habitat for Humanity Lake-Sumter Youth Construction Academy in partnership with local schools, community partners and affiliates broke ground on a new construction home located at 212 N. Florida Ave., August 31, 2021. Habitat is a nonprofit organization that helps to build strong and stable communities.

City of Mascotte officials participated in the groundbreaking ceremony and proudly support Habitat for Humanity, as well as other housing projects in the community.
